Lawrence McWilliams attended Cal State Los Angeles and studied traditional animation. After graduating he studied animation in a summer program at Gobelins in Paris, France. Lawrence later studied Visual Development for animation at Academy of Art University in San Francisco where he received an MFA.
Lawrence has done extensive freelance work animating and storyboarding for commercials, games, short and feature length films, as well as illustration work. He worked with clients such as MTV, BET, Microsoft, Facebook, Walmart, as well as individuals working on smaller independent projects.
In 2015 Lawrence co-wrote and illustrated the book 100 Years From Now Our Bones Will Be Different, which received a starred review from Publisher Weekly. Before moving to Danville he was teaching digital art to adults with developmental disabilities in Inglewood CA. Currently Lawrence is teaching art at RISE Academy in Danville Public School.
