23rd Annual

Danville Storytelling Festival

We're excited for the 23rd  Danville Storytelling Festival in 2026!

We’ll miss seeing our amazing festival community in 2025—but we’re using this time to dream even bigger! What started as an intimate event of dozens -has now grown to an intimate event shared by hundreds!

So we're taking a gap year to rest, grow our infrastructure, innovate our storytelling, and expand funding to accomodate the exciting growth of the festival.

In the meantime, you can still enjoy our digital experience—complete with ASL and Spanish-language interpretation. Stay tuned, and we’ll see you soon!

About Us

The Danville Storytelling Festival (DSF) is a family-oriented event that acts as an “artistic social bridge” - bringing communities together and celebrating how we are all connected using the rich tradition of storytelling, performances, and activism. The festival is a free event that is open to the public. To learn more, click below.

22nd Annual Danville Storytelling Festival (2024)

Over 400 festival goers joined us at Averett University for a day filled with captivating tales, engaging performances, and a celebration of the art of storytelling. Our lineup of talented storytellers, also called "Griots," transported attendees to different worlds with their words, animations, dances, and songs.Whether you're a fan of folk tales, dancing fables, or personal anecdotes

-there's something for everyone at this festival.

The DSF Digital Experience has "pre-recorded" performances with ASL & Spanish language interpretation. Click here to visit our DSF Youtube page to check it out!

The festival is a free event that is open to the public. If you missed the 2024 festival no worries. We'll be back soon!

Let's Celebrate! DSf Digital Experience

DSF is committed to expanding accessibility to the festival through our digital experience. We also recognize that access to broadband is still a significant issue (particularly in rural areas). Therefore, we will continue to explore innovative accessibility options. The digital experience has "pre-recorded" performances accompanied by ASL & Spanish language interpretation.
